Rita Adolff-Wollfarth · Partita in Light and Colour

With her catalogue, Rita Adolff-Wolffarth provides an insight into her rich artistic work. Her pieces are characterized by distinct and striking forms combined with the subtlety of colour, as converted from light. The artist does not use painting as a tool of social criticism, but rather to inspire in the viewer a feeling of internal freedom and serenity. The arrangement of colours is not left to chance, it derives from a studied understanding of their effects and the desire to provide a narrative that reveals the phenomenon of light through colours and the glow of colours. This skilful play of colours gives the paintings a deep radiance. Consciously, the artist makes use of a variety of styles, while all her pieces display a strong link with Portugal, where she lives some of the time and has a studio.
