Employee proactivity has largely been understood in terms employees changing their environment or changing themselves. In this novel study, Wu offers an alternative lens through which to examine such behavior: the concept of attachment theory. Wu integrates the current understanding of motivational factors in shaping proactive workers, through his introduction to attachment theory and development of it as a theoretical framework. This compelling approach provides academics with a new way of thinking about employee behavior whilst also acting as a guide for practitioners and managers.

Review Quotes
George Z. X. Chen, The Australian National University
“Grounded in attachment theory, Dr. Wu explains why some employees are more proactive than others and how managers or organizations can foster employees' proactivity from adevelopmental perspective. This book is thought-provoking and well-grounded in academic evidence. It tells us that proactivity does not stand alone but is rooted in caring and supportive relationships.”
Sharon Parker, Curtin University
‘’In this book, Wu sets out a rigorous yet novel perspective on what motivates people at work to 'make things happen'...
