This volume undertakes a study of unusual light phenomena—the usual province of psychic mediums and sensational film thrillers like White Noise—based on 400 unpublished accounts collected over the course of a thirty-year period. Going beyond existing studies in this genre—including angelic and near-death experiences—Mark Fox shows that experiences of unusual, spiritual, and paranormal lights are cross-cultural, transhistorical, and widely reported. Demonstrating that these experiences share a surprisingly common core of characteristics—including sensations of benignity and love—and drawing on a number of vivid, unpublished and dramatic testimonies, this account illuminates the manifestation of unusual light phenomena during times of crisis.
