The rattle pods, or klapper bossie of the legume genus Crotalaria are common throughout the tropics, but reach their greatest profusion in eastern and southern tropical Africa. The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive and authoritative review of the genus for the whole continent. Altogether 500 species are recognised in Africa and Madagascar, 57 of them described here for the first time.
