About the Author

Sir Christopher White was formerly Director of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and is one of the leading scholars of Dutch and Flemish seventeenth-century art. Among his numerous publications are catalogues of the Dutch Pictures (1982) and of the Dutch and Flemish Drawings (jointly, 1994) in the Royal Collection, as well as a monograph on Rubens (1987) and the standard study of Rembrandt’s etchings (2nd edn, 1999).
