Ralph Petty’s paintings and drawings concentrate on the contemporary human figure and landscape. Recent exhibitions include the Haus Kasuya Museum, Kamakura, Japan; the Novosibirsk National Museum, Russia; and numerous gallery shows in Japan and France. His book of drawings, Démons quotidiens, with Canadian writer Nancy Huston, was published in 2011. He taught at Parson’s School of Design Paris and at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques. Since 1990 he has been professor of drawing and painting at the American University of Paris, where he is also the university curator and gallery director.
