I head up our Reference program, which maintains the Press's list of writing and research guides, acquires and develops reference books in a variety of disciplines, and oversees timely revisions of such works as The Craft of Research, the Turabian Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, and, most recently, the 16th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style, which published in Fall 2010 simultaneously in print and online. We also publish the monumental History of Cartography (three of six volumes published to date). For the Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing series I edit, recent additions include Storycraft: The Complete Guide to Writing Narrative Nonfiction; The Subversive Copy Editor; and The Dramatic Writer’s Companion. I am always looking for good writing guides that will meet the needs of students, scholars, and professionals outside the academy. I publish another series, Chicago Guides to Academic Life, which recently added The Thinking Student’s Guide to College: 75 Tips for Getting a Better Education. This year the Reference group is publishing a major work for libraries, The History of Continental Philosophy (8 vols.).
